Eau d'Ipanema

A Lab on Fire’s Carlos Kusubayashi moved from Brazil to Japan at an early age so he didn’t have much of a memory of Brazil, but he always kept a photo of himself at 2 years of age, held in the arms of his father at Rio de Janeiro’s Ipanema beach. His dad passed away shortly after the picture was taken and his mother took him to Japan to be raised with her family. After discovering the song, The Girl from Ipanema, as a teenager, because of the image with his father, it held a special place in his heart, and he listened wistfully to the words whenever he felt lonely.

Carlos was inspired to work on an Ipanema-related fragrance after a chance encounter with Jean-Marc Chaillan at a party where he learned that the perfumer lived and worked for years in Brazil and married a beautiful smart Brazilian woman.
